I’m going to dedicate this post to talking about a new hobby I picked up during the quarantine time this year – trading!
It has become quite an obsession and hobby – so much so my daily routine has been completely changed to work around it. Every morning, I wake up at 4 AM to do pre-market trading and spending about 2 hours each night after market closes to screen for the next day’s trade opportunities.
Sports and fitness psychology, according to the numerous apps that came out, tells us that we would need 21 days of sustained activity to develop a new habit and routine. Since April of 2020 ( thanks to WFH and covid lockdown policies ), I had nothing but time to develop and sustain this new habit. Put that into perspective, that’s over half a year, and I am still worry that this new habit may not last and pass into nothing but a mere phase. If you ask me how obsessed, I’d say that’s pretty obsessed!
On September 2, 2020, I took that obsession to a whole new level. I created Facebook community inviting friends to join me on the journey of trading and investments. The daily routine of journaling my stock picks and analysis extended into alerts which I frequently post to the group.
Among my closest like-minded friends, we have a chatroom (not dissimilar to discord groups) on messenger that alert each other and share our thoughts and setups for different stocks. From a single journey of hobby, it grew to become a passion and community where I’ve learned so much from others as well as enjoyed a great deal of satisfaction in helping out some of my friends to get up to speed and verse in technical analysis.
My knowledge grew exponentially, I was surprised and grateful. To my friends, and family whom I shared this journey with, I am so happy to be on this journey with you and look forward for us to continue to learn, grow and work towards our individual and collective dreams of wealth and financial freedom.
